Children's Campus of Wyandotte (CCWC) (In Development)

Children's Campus of Wyandotte (CCWC) (In Development)

400 State Avenue, Tower II, Suite 900
Kansas City, KS 66101
USA

Agency Type: Human Services--Mixed

The Children's Campus of Wyandotte County (CCWC) plans to house agencies in the fields of early education, family support, health, research, the arts, and recreation, and to link to other agencies in the community. Planned to be located in Kansas City, Kansas, CCWC is intended to be a place where children receive high quality early education based on evidence-based practices; agencies work together to support the health and well-being of children birth to five years of age and their families; and children and their families access and engage the resources they need to succeed. The campus will include the fifth Educare Center in the United States, with 12 model classrooms for 162 children ages birth to five.

In order to realize these ambitious goals, the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas, and the Kansas City, Kansas Housing Authority are working together to support the development of the proposed site plan located between 2nd and 3rd streets and Richmond Avenue and Jersey Creek in the Northeast community of Kansas City, Kansas. CCWC is a public and private partnership in which private dollars will build a flagship campus. [Text adapted from website]

Children's Village Children's Village

Children's Village

3801 Kern Road
Yakima, WA 98902
USA

Agency Type: Human Services--General or Mixed

Established 1997

Children's Village is a unique program that is a result of Yakima-area providers' vision for easily accessible, comprehensive, collaborative health, education, and social services for children with special healthcare needs and their families. Area residents found it difficult to get their children's healthcare needs met in one place and were frustrated by the lack of coordination. Based on their information, community agencies worked to improve services. In 1997 the Yakima location began integrating medical, educational, dental, family support, and mental health services by offering a co-location for agencies and programs. Children's Village now has a satellite in Sunnyside, Washington, that opened in 1999, and that continues to offer streamlined health services. [Text adapted from website]
