Program Overview
The mission of the Michigan Sexual Health Certificate is to provide comprehensive education and training to professionals about sexual health. The Certificate Program will address the learning needs of sexuality educators, sexuality counselors, and sex therapists. The University of Michigan Sexual Health Certificate Program believes that sexual health is an important part of every individual's general health. Individuals and couples may experience problems in their sexual health related to psychological, environmental, hormonal, medical or relational facets of sexual health. The goal of the University of Michigan Sexual Health Certificate Program is to provide excellence in the training of professionals in sexual health education, counseling, and therapy.
Program Format
In July of each year, the program commences with an expert panel and keynote speaker followed by a four-day intensive session consisting of two courses. Throughout the 20-month program, participants return to campus for seven two-day concentrated courses if pursuing sexuality educator training; and nine, two-day concentrated courses if pursuing sexuality counselor or sex therapist training. All sessions are held at the University of Michigan School of Social Work in Ann Arbor.
Program Fees
Tuition and fees for sexuality counselors and sex therapists are $2,970 and include a total of eleven intensive courses. Tuition and fees for sexuality educators are $2,430 and include a total of nine intensive courses. All costs may be paid in full upon enrollment or in three predetermined installments throughout the program. These rates include breakfast daily as well as some course materials. Textbooks, lodging, and other meals are not included.
