Board of Governors (BOG) Practicum Award

The BOG Award provides assistance to students involved in field placements for spring/summer term who are in out-of-state and/or international settings. This award is provided to enrolled students. Application instructions will be emailed to students during the academic year.

Clarice Ullman Freud Fellowship

The Clarice Ullman Freud Fellowship was made possible by a gift from Professor Clarice Ullman Freud. Professor Freud was the director of field instruction while on faculty at the U-M School of Social Work. The Freud Fellowship in Children and Families was developed to support research to help students integrate theory and practice in field instruction. Selection is based on demonstrated, outstanding potential for professional practice. Determination of awards is based on an evaluation of all previous academic work, recommendations, human services employment experience, the applicant's written supplementary statement, and other application documents.

Clarice Ullman Freud Individual Research Scholarship

This Clarice Ullman Freud Individual Research Scholarship provides a stipend to assist a student in integrating theory and practice, improving existing procedures, and developing new linkages between the SSW and organizations that provide practice skill instruction for students. The scholarship also provides the means to enable prospective and current field instructors to extend and deepen their knowledge and skill in field instruction methodology.

Bruce Alan Schaffer Memorial Award

The Bruce Alan Schaffer Memorial Award was made possible by gifts from Bruce's parents, Arnold and Miriam Schaffer, and the gifts of friends and family. An endowment was established to fund an internship in pediatric oncology at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Michigan. Selection is based on demonstrated, outstanding potential for professional practice. Determination of awards is based on an evaluation of all previous academic work, recommendations, human services employment experience, the applicant's written supplementary statement, and other application documents.

UAW-GM Fellowship in the Child and Family Program

This fellowship was made possible by the UAW-GM Center for Human Resources. Students needing financial aid who are concentrating in children and youth in families and society are eligible for this award. The recipient will be a resident of Detroit or Flint, will work in the greater Detroit or Flint areas, and will be involved with one of the UAW-GM child development centers.
