Kersti Yllo

Kersti Yllo is a professor of sociology at Wheaton College, Massachusetts. Her interests are on family, gender inequality, domestic violence, and feminist research. She teaches courses on families in transition, aging in America, gender inequality, and violence against women. Her research focuses on wife abuse, including battering, marital rape, and abuse during pregnancy. She has published a number of articles and books on these issues and she is the co-editor of the book Feminist Perspectives on Wife Abuse and co-author of License to Rape. Her current work is focusing increasingly on intervention into violence. She is presently working on projects with the Boston Children's Hospital and the U.S. Marine Corps, evaluating the effectiveness of efforts to reduce domestic violence. She also serves on the editorial boards of several journals including Gender and Society, Journal of Interpersonal Violence, and Violence Abstracts.
