Identify and develop a school-wide and individual action support plan for students who are identified as potential dropouts. 2. Work and collaborate effectively with teachers and other school-based personnel to develop and implement individual student support plans. 3. Conduct home visits as a part of dropout prevention. 4. Administer the prescribed Dropout Survey to targeted students, and interpret and record results. 5. Design and implement a comprehensive plan with identified strategies (including advising, counseling, and mentoring services) to reduce the dropout rate. 6. Design and implement individualized intervention plans with specific strategies (including advising, counseling, and mentoring programs and services) to address the needs of targeted students and to their families/caregivers. 7. Recruit, train, and monitor mentors as part of the dropout prevention program. 8. Deliver a wide range of direct parent activities and services including - but not limited to  in-service, training, and workshop sessions related to dropout prevention strategies. 9. Identify and connect students and their families to appropriate educational, social, and other support services in the school, district, and communities. 10. Design and implement instructional activities, materials, and strategies in classrooms, workshops, summer programs, and other appropriate settings in an effort to support targeted students. 11. Monitors the school performance of targeted at-risk students in the areas of academic achievement, attendance, and behavior. 12. Provide students with assistance in the areas of academic achievement, college awareness/readiness/access, school success (attendance, behavior, personal, and social issues), and life-skills (e.g., organization skills, time management, individual and social responsibility and work ethic) that impact school performance and dropout rates. 13. Design and implement programs and strategies that emphasize career exploration and career goals. 14. Contact and communicate directly with parents/guardians on a regular basis to ensure parent awareness of and involvement in their child's school performance and to secure parent support of student participation in school, and other activities. 15. Maintain accurate data, records, etc. to document all activities conducted and services provided. 16. Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the principal in support of the overall support plan.
Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Teaching or related field required; Master's Degree in Counseling or related field preferred. Current valid teacher certification required. Licensed School Counselor, School Social Worker, Counselor, or Social Worker preferred (related state license acceptable). Experience: Minimum of five (5) years experience working with at-risk youth in grades K-12, providing both instruction and intervention services required. The DPN will provide Michigan Works! locations in Berrien, Van Buren and Cass counties with consultation services related to the barriers, accessibility and accommodations needs for person with disabilities who are engaged in employment seeking services at Michigan WORKS! The DPN will also engage with community partners to build understanding and support for full inclusion for people with disabilities in our communities. ACT is a set of intensive, clinical, medical, and psychosocial services provided by a mobile multi-disciplinary treatment team. Assistant Director for Student Services for the Doctoral Program is the primary contact for prospective students, consulting with the Chair of the Doctoral Program regarding the recruitment of the most talented prospective students, and advising continuing students on program requirements and cross-registration options. All interview visits will take place in family homes and young children will be in the home for a portion of the visits.

The interviewer position requires at minimum a BA in a social science and at least 12 months experience working with families or related research experience.
