BioSketch

Professor Woodford's primary area of scholarship concerns community participation in policymaking. He is also interested in the inclusion of vulnerable communities in HIV/AIDS prevention and is currently co-investigator on an interdisciplinary, community-based study exploring the engagement of marginalized communities in HIV vaccine trials (funded by the Ontario HIV Treatment Network). Further, he also engages in work on LGBT-related oppression and the development of effective strategies to promote the full inclusion of LGBT persons.

Professor Woodford has an array of practice experience, including community-based social work with immigrants and refugees, consulting and facilitation with community and government organizations, and government-based social policy and organizational development.

Other areas of interest are qualitative methodology, critical research, community organization, and organizational development.
